Milwaukee Business Journal shares Tim Sullivan’s Appeal for St. Ann Center’s Northside Project:
Tim and Vivian Sullivan are seeking donors to match their $1 million pledge and avoid a year-long delay in the opening of a new St. Ann Center child and adult care facility on West North Avenue.
“We’ve only got four weeks to raise $1 million,” said Tim Sullivan, former CEO of Bucyrus International Inc. and Gardner Denver Inc., and a member of the St. Ann Center board.
The $20.7 million, 80,000-square-foot building at North 24th Street and West North Avenue will provide services for up to 250 preschoolers and 150 adults daily, creating 200 jobs. The St. Ann Center has raised $13 million of the $15 million needed to start construction on the building. The Sullivans have pledged $1 million to the project if St. Ann Center can raise an equal amount by Aug. 15.
The clock is ticking because St. Ann Center faces a September 2015 deadline to open the facility. If not ready by fall 2015, the organization could lose out on federal Head Start grants that would pay for a portion of the services for more than 100 pre-schoolers in the building.
