Adult Care
Adult Day Care & Personal Hygiene Services in Milwaukee
Adult services – like a daycare program, specialized dementia care, personal hygiene care, and temporary overnight respite care — give older adults and people with disabilities a chance to remain healthier and live longer in their own homes. Adults in our day program receive compassionate and cost-effective care, nutritious meals, and activities to keep them moving. Plus they get an important additional benefit: their regular interactions with children in our childcare spark renewed sense of purpose and heighten engagement.
More Out Of Life
In sharing time with children, adults talk and smile more, and join in more activities, from storytelling to music to art. That includes physical activities incorporating movement–rolling a ball, playing balloon volleyball or raising the play parachute. Besides providing their loved ones with essential care, supervision, and social interaction, we give family caregivers the time and support they need to work or meet other obligations.
Our Adult Care Programs
St. Ann Center strives to give mature adults and those challenged with disabilities a chance to remain independent longer.
Adult Day Care
From morning exercise to lunch with friends and an afternoon filled with activities and socializing, we help the frail elders and adults of all ages with disabilities that we serve feel like part of the family.
Adult day services are available from 7 AM to 5 PM, Monday-Friday. (They are also available 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Saturday and Sunday through our overnight respite care program – no overnight stay required).
Adult Services Include:
- Care. Medical care from an RN or LPN and help with personal hygiene and grooming (including dental hygiene), continence and mobility are provided by qualified personal care workers.
- Nutrition. A hot lunch and snack are served daily. Special dietary needs can be met, including tube feeding.
- Fun. There are plenty of opportunities to socialize with daily exercise, field trips and swimming in our Aquatic Center’s warm-water, wheelchair-accessible pool.
- Creativity. Our adults can express themselves and learn new skills through music and art. In St. Ann Center’s fully equipped art studios, they can participate in a variety of enjoyable projects — drawing, painting, jewelry making and more!
- Wellness. Care of mind, body and spirit is nurtured through emotional and spiritual support, outpatient physical and occupational therapy, and hair and nail services at the Ageless Beauty Salon (Stein Campus)
- Personal Attention. A low staff-to-client ratio allows us to get to know our adults and their unique interests, skills and needs.

Personal Hygiene/Whirlpool Baths
It’s often challenging to meet the personal hygiene needs of an elderly loved one with disabilities. We offer hygiene care services such as whirlpool baths to help caregivers meet those needs.
Private, personalized bathing care in wheelchair-accessible tubs, with a personal care assistant, is available to any community member (with health clearance from a physician), not just those enrolled in our day program.

Overnight Respite
Available 24/7/365, St. Ann Center’s temporary overnight respite care service lets frail elders and adults with special needs stay from one to 21 days in bed-and-breakfast-style private rooms, with compassionate care provided by trained caregivers.
This offers family caregivers a welcome break from the demands of caregiving – time to take a vacation, a business trip, attend to their own health needs or just recharge their batteries.
Adults in overnight respite care enjoy three hot, healthy meals a day, plus snack; personal care assistance; whirlpool bathing assistance; medication management and medical needs supervision; daily activities (such as art and music, group games, entertainment and movies); housekeeping and daily bed linen service. Guests take part in our adult day program and intergenerational activities.
