Sr. Lucy Marindany, Vice President of Education & Childcare for St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care, will be honored by the Milwaukee Archdiocese’s Office for World Mission at their fourth annual Women in Mission: Celebrating the Missionary Call of Women event. The celebration will take place 2-4 p.m., on Sunday, March 29, at St. Ann Center-Bucyrus Campus, 2450 W. North Ave. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.

The free event celebrates the global missionary contributions of women who are from or work in Southeastern Wisconsin. Sr. Lucy will receive The Rosemary Huddleston Being Present Award. Also being honored is Cynthia Jones-Nosacek, M.D., recipient of The Frances Cunningham Bridge Builder Award.

Sr. Lucy is a member of the Little Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi. She serves as president on the board of directors of The Little Sisters Angel Fund formed to support the needs of orphaned children in Kenya. This mission has funded construction of a new orphanage in Amukura, Kenya. Sr. Lucy is also the coordinator of the Little Sisters Education Fund which arranges sponsorship by American families of the education of children living in poverty in Uganda. In her role at St. Ann Center, Sr. Lucy oversees the early childhood education program including preschool, Early Head Start, before- and after-school programs and summer day camp.

Dr. Jones-Nosacek is being recognized for mission work she’s done through two Milwaukee parish twinning committees: Saints Peter and Paul Parish, which twins with Chiapas, Mexico, and Three Holy Women Parish, which twins with Padibe, Uganda. Dr. Jones-Nosacek recently returned from a month-long mission trip to Padibe, where she presented medical lectures and helped in the community clinic and worked with midwife education.

In addition to receiving their awards, the honorees will give presentations about their mission experiences. Attendees can enjoy refreshments from Events By Day Catering and shop handmade items from Sr. Edna’s Jewelry Creations and Aloekui Natural Handmade Soaps & Lotions.

The Office for World Mission is a nonprofit organization supporting mission and promoting global education, connections and partnerships in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
