Unleash your energy for a worthy cause at St. Ann Center’s 3rd annual Darby’s Dash, a pet-friendly 1-mile walk and 5k run set for Saturday, October 1.

The scenic course starts at St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care, 2801 East Morgan Ave., and winds through the grounds of the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi Motherhouse and St. Francis Seminary woods. Register online through Friday, September 30th, and at the center on race day. Check-in is at 9 a.m., and the run/walk begins at 10 a.m.

Registration fee is $25 for adults, $15 for children and $60 for a family pack (two adults and two children). T-shirts, swag bags and bandanas for your furry friends will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Here are some things you won’t want to miss:
• Pre-race pet blessing in honor of the Feast of St. Francis
• Raffles and refreshments from Outpost and Colectivo
• Free post-race chair massage, plus pet massage and demos
• Dog agility course by Bay View Bark
• Games, activities and vendors including Mac’s Pet Depot Barkery and Healium Hot Yoga

Therapeutic pet massage is offered by St. Ann Center’s Massage and Wellness Department. A therapist trained in advanced canine massage and energy work will be on hand to give demonstrations and answer questions. There will also be a raffle for a free pet massage.

Sponsors and donors for the event include: Orchard Street Press, St. Francis Seminary, Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi, VCA Pahle Animal Hospital, Classic Pet Grooming Boutique, Shorewood Animal Hospital, Ker More Pet Grooming, Bark N’ Scratch Outpost, Puppy World, EmBark Pet Spa, Express News, Classic Slice and Bay View Compass.

All proceeds from the fun-filled event go to support the health and educational day services St. Ann Center provides children, adults with severe disabilities and the frail elderly, regardless of ability to pay. The nonprofit organization has two locations, the south side’s Stein Campus and the Bucyrus Campus at 2450 West North Avenue.
