The hillside was dotted with bright orange Saturday as the 3rd annual Pumpkin Palooza closed out the 2023 Indaba Band Shell season at the Bucyrus Campus.
Children, some in costume, arrived with parents and grandparents in tow to check out the games, collect prizes and pick out their perfect pumpkin in the crisp but sunshiny fall air. They could then decorate their pumpkin with spooky stickers in front of the stage, as “The Monster Mash,” “Thriller,” and other frightful tunes played. Onstage, they posed for pictures with a dancing scarecrow, collected treat bags and sampled hot apple cider – a first for many children and even some of their adults.
The event was sponsored by Pete’s Fruit Market, Grandma Book, Milwaukee County Office of Equity, the All of Us Research Program, AARP Wisconsin, the 38th Annual Black Excellence Awards, World Mission Ministries, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Epsilon Kappa Omega Chapter, Gershia Coggs & G. Spencer Coggs and Gloria Miller.
