Precautions St. Ann Center Is Taking to Decrease the Spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19)

By March 12, 2020No Comments2 min read

St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care is taking the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) very seriously at both of our campuses. This is particularly important for our intergenerational day services center which serves the community’s most vulnerable populations—including frail elders and adults with disabilities.

Measures we are currently taking include:

  • Reinforcing the infection control policies we already have in place.
  • Practicing strict hand hygiene protocol among staff members, volunteers, adult clients and children.
  • Installation of additional sanitation stations throughout the building.
  • Increasing housekeeping staff hours to handle additional cleaning and disinfecting of the building.
  • Communicating to parents and caregivers the importance of keeping children and adult clients who are ill at home, including those living with a family member who is ill.
  • Signage at the building entrance requesting people who are ill not enter.
  • Cancelling events and fundraisers that would bring a large number of volunteer groups or outside guests into the building.
  • Reminding staff and volunteers to stay home when they are feeling ill.
  • Restricting all unnecessary traffic into our facilities.
  • Creating isolation areas at each campus for people who present symptoms of illness.
  • Using teleconferencing in place of in-person meetings when it is possible to do so effectively.
  • Stopping handshaking and using noncontact methods of greeting.
  • Communicating COVID-19 policies and procedures updates with staff daily.

St. Ann Center will remain vigilant to the possible effects of COVID-19 and will continue to do all we can to decrease the potential spread of coronavirus to our clients and the Milwaukee community.
