Over four hot August days, a city came together to build a playground for the St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care Bucyrus Campus, which is scheduled to open September 1, 2015. Alongside Lee Recreation, bankers, teachers, social workers and students built a wonderful playground that will bring joy and fun to many children in the local community. Even though many of the individuals who came to help had never built a playground they were willing to get their hands and shirts and shoes dirty, especially since the rain decided to fall two of the build days.
It was truly heartwarming to see so many different individuals from all over the city, with different backgrounds, and experiences come together as a team to create something beautiful. Oftentimes we hear about how segregated and divided the City of Milwaukee is but there is also the other side of this story. The side of the story that was witnessed over four days at the new Bucyrus Campus where caring members of our city came together and did something great.
Thank you to the over 40 volunteers from BMO Harris Bank, Direct Supply, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, Marquette University and the caregivers, parents and staff from St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care.
