Irish and non-Irish eyes were smiling all over the place as St. Ann Center celebrated St. Patrick’s Day. The atrium was a sea of every shade of green as clients gathered for more than a wee bit of fun.
Music therapist Hannah Goodness had everyone singing with a couple of lilting ditties, “Cockles and Mussels” and “Sweet Rosie O’Grady.” Then it was time for some jokes and riddles that would make a leprechaun groan: When is an Irish potato not Irish? When it’s a French fry, of course.
Clients really stepped up when it came time for the Irish dancing competition. The fancy footwork was followed by a Shamrock race. Wearing sandwich board shamrocks, runners, walkers and some using wheelchairs circled the atrium. No pot of gold for the winners—but a free visit to the St. Ann Center Café was the popular prize.
Wrapping up this lucky day, clients enjoyed green ice cream floats and drank a toast to friendship.
