District 15 Supervisor Russell Stamper, and Milwaukee Department of City Development employees Matt Haessly and Lori Lutska visited St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care on Wednesday June 6th. As a newly elected representative, Russell Stamper, came to the center to see what St. Ann center has been accomplishing on the Southside of Milwaukee for over 30 years. He was also very interested in learning about the St. Ann Center Northside replication project planning to break ground this summer. The project will be located in District 15 where Stamper is now the alderman. He plans on helping in any way that he can and is very interested in the proposed job creation and helping the president, Sr. Edna Lonergan, recruit employees from the Northside community.
The project will create over 200 jobs and Sr. Edna has made it her mission to hire as many individuals from the local area as possible. St. Ann Center is partnered with CGSchmidt, the construction contractor, who has hired the firm American Design to ensure that minority participation is up to Sr. Edna’s 50% goal. The project is at a critical crossroads waiting on the announcement of the New Market Tax Credits and closing the financial gap to reach the ultimate project goal of $20 million.
