On Thursday, November 14th, Governor Scott Walker spent about an hour at St. Ann Center speaking to and mingling with an intergenerational group on the center’s indoor veranda. He was here to announce a grant of $30,000 from Wisconsin’s Work Force Development. In announcing the grant he said, “This recognizes people in our community who are sometimes overlooked but have unique, valuable abilities. The goal is to help them with training and finding meaningful employment.” He also said, “I am here to thank you (St. Ann Center) for your commitment to people with disabilities.” Clients had a chance to meet the governor and speak with him about their concerns, especially for safety in the community.
WISN 12 covered the visit and also shared the impact that the future Bucyrus Campus will have on Milwaukee’s workforce in the northside community. Groundbreaking for the Bucyrus Campus is Tuesday, November 18th!
