St. Ann Center Announces New Leader

Derek Goodman succeeds Sr. Edna Lonergan, OSF, as Non-Profit’s President and CEO.

St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care this month named Derek Goodman as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. He is only the second person to hold that position since the Milwaukee nonprofit was founded by Sr. Edna Lonergan, OSF, in 1983.

Lonergan has served as its president and chief executive officer since then, guiding it from its beginnings as an adult day care program — one of the first in Milwaukee — to its current status, celebrating 25 years as a global pioneer in providing intergenerational day care. Today, St. Ann Center offers day care for children, frail elders and adults with disabilities, allowing them to form life-affirming intergenerational friendships, at its two campuses, and a host of other health and wellness services for family caregivers.

“Sr. Edna’s commitment to creating a nurturing environment that fosters dignity and care has positively transformed countless lives and her legacy of compassion and innovation will  influence the center’s direction well into the future,” noted Board Chairman Tim Sullivan. “She will continue to inspire the community with her daily presence and interactions at both campuses.”

Sullivan said Goodman, her successor, brings a wealth of experience in Wisconsin adult day care and youth services, making him exceptionally well aligned with St. Ann Center’s core values and mission, and well prepared to lead St. Ann Center into its next phase of growth and impact.  Goodman previously was Executive Director at  The Richardson School, and has also held leadership roles at Paragon Community Services and Easter Seals.

“St. Ann Center is excited to see how Derek’s fresh perspectives and strategies will contribute to the center’s goals of expanding services and enriching more lives,” Sullivan said. “We are grateful for the continuous support from the community and our partners, which remains essential to the center’s success. We invite the community to stay engaged through St. Ann Center’s various social media channels and website for updates on new initiatives and stories of impact under Derek’s leadership.”
