Indaba African Ball Celebrates Heritage and Culture

By February 26, 2026No Comments2 min read

Approximately 200 people attended St. Ann Center’s 2026 Indaba African Ball. In addition to celebrating heritage and culture, it’s also the premier fundraiser for Indaba Nights, the beloved (and free!) weekly summer concert series at the Bucyrus Campus.

“The Indaba African Ball raises funds to assist St. Ann Center in bringing good music, food and good vibes in a family-friendly atmosphere on the north side of Milwaukee,” said Gloria Miller, Special Events Director for St. Ann Center’s Bucyrus Campus.

The event raised approximately $24,000 to assist in the coordination of the Indaba African Ball and to provide stipends for the entertainment for the summer.

Attendees came attired in colorful African clothing. Music was provided by the MUVGRUV Band, blending “ole school” funk, blues, soul, R&B, and jazz. “Their electrifying lndaba Nights performance last summer led audience members to request them to perform at the 2026 Ball,” said Miller. “They were outstanding!”

Delicious African and Caribbean inspired hors d’oeuvers were provided by Events By Day caterer. The evening also included a wine pull, a photo selfie station, and shopping experiences with Areewa African-Inspired Fashions, Scintillating Soul, and Africa Alive, LLC. The Poppn Party 360 Photo Booth provided fun photo opportunities.

The event each year recognizes notable Milwaukeeans that are catalysts for change in the community. “The Ball honors members of the Milwaukee Community who have given unselfishly of their time and talents through their professional accomplishments and community involvements,” said Miller. This year’s Hall of History Makers included local media members C. Michelle Bryant and Earl Ingram.
