It’s going around! So if a nasty winter “bug” has bitten you, St. Ann Center’s Health and Wellness Clinic is ready to help. The nurse practitioner-managed clinic now accepts Medicare, Medicaid and Humana Insurance. Serving the entire community, the clinic assesses and treats minor illnesses and injuries and offers a variety of preventative health screenings.

Located at St. Ann Center’s Stein Campus, 2801 East Morgan Avenue, the clinic is staffed by nurse-practitioner Kathy Schumacher. It is open on a walk-in or appointment basis, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The convenient neighborhood clinic offers a comfortable alternative to crowded urgent care centers. It’s also the perfect place for people who suffer from “White Coat Syndrome,” like St. Ann Center volunteer Joe Coco. The sight of a doctor in a white lab coat tends to start his heart racing. “Kathy’s smile immediately put me at ease,” Coco said. The clinic now helps him monitor his blood pressure. “Whether it’s a little health concern or a big one, the clinic is there for you,” he added.

According to Schumacher, “High blood pressure is a serious condition affecting about one in three American adults. As we age, statistics show that more than half of all Americans age 60 and older have high blood pressure. If you don’t know your blood pressure, it’s important to get it checked. The same goes for your cholesterol. High blood pressure and high cholesterol are major risk factors leading to heart disease, heart attack and stroke.“

St. Ann Center’s clinic can assess and treat conditions including cough and bronchitis, influenza, sinus infection, seasonal allergies, sore throat and strep, minor rashes, ear infection, ringworm, shingles, bladder infection, poison ivy/oak, pink eye, insect stings and minor lower back pain.

For those not covered by accepted insurance, the clinic carries a flat fee of $35, payable by cash, checks or credit cards.

St. Ann Center’s Medical Clinic-Stein Campus operates thanks to the generous funding of the Catholic Community Foundation, Inc.
