Zilber Family Foundation grant used to challenge others to give!

St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care has started construction on the long awaited replication of its Southside facility. The new, $20 million Center will be located at 2450 W. North Avenue, in the heart of Milwaukee’s Northside. When completed in the fall of 2015, the 83,000 square foot facility will serve up to 250 preschoolers and 150 adults daily. It will also provide jobs for approximately 200 individuals from the surrounding area. A major new development, St. Ann Center Bucyrus Campus will provide health, education and social services in one of the city’s most underserved areas, and serve as the impetus for other real estate development along North Avenue.

Under the chairmanship of civic leader Tim Sullivan, the campaign for the campus has raised approximately $16 million so far, putting success squarely in sight.

With a recent grant, the Zilber Family Foundation has shown its support and wants to encourage others in the community to step up and help St. Ann’s raise the balance of $4 million needed to complete the project. St. Ann’s is using the Zilber grant of $500,000 to attract other contributions, and will match, dollar for dollar, all new donations of any size.

Donations can be made online at stanncenter.org/donate or by making a donation to St. Ann Center, 2801 East Morgan Ave, Milwaukee WI 53207 for the north side campus. Anyone wishing to pledge any amount to help St. Ann’s raise the final $4 million can contact Casey Rozanski at the St. Ann Center, 414-977-5001, crozanski@stanncenter.org.

As a real estate developer, Joe Zilber had a keen appreciation for keeping a construction project on time and within budget. He would have understood the importance of raising all the money needed to complete construction. He would have wanted the Foundation to encourage others to give, knowing that a project of the scale and significance of St. Ann Center’s Bucyrus campus will have a transformative impact on the neighborhood where he grew up,” stated Susan Lloyd, the Foundation’s executive director.

Sr. Edna Lonergan stated, “I am deeply appreciative of the Zilber Family Foundation grant and the fact that the Foundation’s board wants to help St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care raise all of the funds it needs to cross the finish line.”

The existing St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care has served Milwaukee’s children and adults for over 30 years, offering day programs for infants through preschoolers, adults with physical and cognitive disabilities, and the frail elderly. The center also features a nine-bed respite center, warm water therapy pool and a 5,000 square-foot intergenerational playground. The center, sponsored by the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi, follows in their tradition of serving the underserved and caring for the community.
