An Uplifting Experience was the perfect theme for the 12th annual Fulfilling the Dream Gala benefiting St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care.  Friends and supporters of the Center packed Chrome, at the Harley-Davidson Museum®, raising $180,000 to benefit the nationally acclaimed day care program that serves children, older adults and people with special needs all in the same shared-site facility.

Sister Edna Lonergan, president of St. Ann Center, was the evening’s keynote speaker. “Just imagine a world where a child’s most formative years are rich in diversity,” she said to a room filled with 300 guests. “They would be comfortable around all kinds of people of different ages, cultures, colors, faiths, traditions and abilities. Now, imagine a world where older adults are valued and listened to, where their wisdom and experience are seen as gifts to be passed down to our children…where they have a purpose that gives them a reason to get up in the morning. That’s what’s happening at St. Ann Center–and that’s what can happen everywhere if we keep spreading the word.”

All proceeds from the gala support St. Ann Center’s Care Champions program, which directly benefits youth, frail elderly and adults with disabilities who have no means to pay for services they desperately need. St. Ann Center serves Milwaukee at two facilities—the Stein Campus at 2801 E. Morgan Avenue and the Bucyrus Campus at 2450 W. North Avenue.

The evening featured a hot air balloon motif, jewelry designed and handcrafted by Sister Edna, live and silent auctions, a catered dinner, and music by vocalist Janet O’Mahony and Mark Thierfelder on piano.

Sponsors for the gala include Marji Singer, MHS Health Wisconsin, CG Schmidt and many other generous donors. The Fulfilling the Dream Gala, first held in 2005, is an annual event hosted by Carol Nevins Cannon and Craig and Susie Nevins in honor of their mother, Florence Nevins and her devotion to St. Ann Center.
